Syllabus Overview
Fundamentals of Laser Physics
Photonics, electromagnetic spectrum, wavelength-frequency relationships, laser generation, population inversion and historical development.
Laser-Tissue Interaction
Absorption, ablation thresholds, emission modes, soft- and hard-tissue ablation, power density, cooling, thermal relaxation and complications.
Laser Safety
ANSI/IEC standards, MPE/NOHD calculations, controlled-area protocols, local rules and best-practice safety systems.
Low-Level Laser Use
Photobiomodulation, cellular effects, pain and inflammation modulation, PDT, photodiagnosis and OCT.
Soft Tissue Applications
Keratinised and non-keratinised tissues, wavelength selection, surgical techniques and anatomical considerations.
Periodontology
Laser curettage, bacterial reduction, calculus removal, infra-bony surgery, GBR and PACT adjuncts.
Hard Tissue Applications
Enamel/dentine interaction, cavity design, composite retention, caries removal, pulp temperature and bone surgery.
Endodontics
Laser-assisted canal preparation, bacterial reduction, pulpal flowmetry, hypersensitivity, apical surgery and obturation techniques.
Implantology
Osteotomy preparation, second-stage recovery, peri-implantitis management, PDT adjuncts and wavelength risk analysis.
Peri-Oral Aesthetics
IPL/laser hair removal, rejuvenation, resurfacing, acne/scar reduction, smile design, bleaching, gingival recontouring and CAD/CAM impressions.
Case Studies
Submission of at least three clinical cases with photographic documentation, using the programme's templates and digital submission requirements.
